Loretta McCarthy Kemmer, 82, of New Buffalo, formerly of Chicago, IL, died on Tues., October 12, 2010 at home surrounded by her loving family. Arrangemnets have been entrusted with Sommerfeld Chapel of New Buffalo.Loretta was born on Sept. 13, 1928 in Chicago, IL to Edward and Sophia (Bukowski) McCarthy. On April 23, 1955 she married Kenneth F. Kemmer. Loretta was a grammar school teacher in the Chicago Public School System for 38 years retiring in 1987. She was a member of the Lake Michigan Yacht Club for many years and was also a member of McCarthy Inc. Loretta will be dearly missed by her family and many friends who loved her unconditionally.Loretta is the beloved mother of two daughters-Nancy Ann (George) Albrecht of New Buffalo and Patricia (Robert) Kaveckas of Evergreen Park, IL; the adored grandmother to Kenneth, Paul, Matthew and Tayler; and proud great grandmother to Patrick and Addisen; fond sister-in-laws Janet and Elsie McCarthy; and her cherished companions Missy and Jake. Loretta is preceded in death by her devoted husband-Kenneth, brothers-Edward and Joseph, her sister-Barbara, and brother-in-law-James Mannion.A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, October 16, 11:00am, at the Sommerfeld Chapel, 15 N. Barton St., New Buffalo, MI (269-469-2233). Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, New Buffalo, MI. Visitation is on Friday, October 15, from 5:00-8:00pm at the funeral home.
