Janet Louise Russell, 61, of New Buffalo, died on January 7, 2011 at LaPorte Hospital, LaPorte, IN. Arrangements have been entrusted with Sommerfeld Chapel of New Buffalo, MI.Janet was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas on March 28, 1949 to Everett and Alma (Ishmael) Braden. She was a cook for Nancy's Restaurant and McDonald's. Janet loved puzzles, gardening, and being with her family – especially her grandchildren.Janet is survived by her children- Larry (Kim) Russell of Michigan City, IN, Kelly (Chuck) Weaver of Reed City, MI, Nathen Russell of San Antonio, TX, and Jeremy (Caly) Russell of LaPorte, IN; 12 grandchildren; brothers-Everett Braden of Florence, WI, and Tom (Nita) Braden of New Buffalo, MI; sisters-Linda (William) Sexton of New Buffalo, MI, Pat (Tom) Herda of Belmont, CA, Sandy (Kevin) VonEhr of New Buffalo, MI, and Vickie Braden of New Buffalo, MI. She is preceded in death by her parents-Everett and Alma Braden, and two grandchildren-Jacob and Ashley.A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, January 11, 11:00am at the Lighthouse Village Church of God, New Buffalo, MI with Pastor Anthony Fields officiating. Visitation is on Monday, January 10, from 6:00-8:00pm at Sommerfeld Chapel of New Buffalo, MI. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
