Ella Wittenburg, 101, formerly of New Buffalo, now of Leesburg, FL, died on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 in Florida. Arrangements have been entrusted with Sommerfeld Chapel of New Buffalo, MI.Ella was born in New Rome, WI on November 5, 1909 to John and Annie (Kouba) Wesley. She married Glen Wittenburg, who preceded her in July, 1985. Ella lived in New Buffalo from 1929 until 2005 when she relocated to Florida with her son Richard, and resided at the Bayview Center Nursing Home in Eustis, FL. For many years she was employed at the old Warren Featherbone Company in Three Oaks, and during the war at the Kingsbury Ordinance Plant in Kingsbury, IN. She ended her working days in the office and as co-owner of the former New Buffalo Concrete Products in 1971.Ella is survived by her two sons, Richard (Jean) Wittenburg of Leesburg, FL and Robert (Pat) Wittenburg of LaPorte, IN; six grandchildren, Richard Wittenburg, David (Gail) Wittenburg, Susan (David) Zolvinski, Lisa Wittenburg, Robert (Kathy) Wittenburg, Jr. and Roger (Amy) Wittenburg; ten great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and five sisters.A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2:00pm at the Sommerfeld Chapel, New Buffalo, MI with Rev. John Peterson officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, New Buffalo. Visitation precedes the service on Tuesday from 12 noon until 2:00pm.
