John's Obituary
John Melgin, 94, of New Buffalo, died Monday, February 21, 2011 at Clarebridge Cottage in Michigan City, IN. Arrangements have been entrusted with Sommerfeld Chapel of New Buffalo.John was born March 26, 1916 in Chicago, IL to Constantine and Caroline (Oborska) Melgin. He served his country during WWII while in the U.S. Marine Corps. John was retired from the C & O Railroad. He was a former member of the American Legion as well as the Moose Lodge. Memorial contributions may be made to the New Buffalo Public Library.John is survived by his two daughters Patty Mayer of New Buffalo and Wendy Melgin of St. Charles, IL; a granddaughter Tricia Truhn of New Buffalo; and a sister Nadja Ritter of New Buffalo. He is preceded in death by his parents Constantine and Caroline, his wife Harriet, brother Mike Melgin, and a sister Ann Howe. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, February 24, 2011, 11:00am, at the Sommerfeld Chapel in New Buffalo, MI. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, New Buffalo, MI.
