Floyd's Obituary

Floyd W. Schuler, 90, of New Buffalo, MI passed away at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital of Michigan City, IN on Monday, Feb. 7, 2011. Arrangements have been entrusted with Sommerfeld Chapel of New Buffalo.Floyd was born January 8, 1921 in South Bend, IN to Peter and Clara (Hensel) Schuler. He was a 1940 graduate of New Buffalo High School. Floyd served his country during WWII while in the U.S. Army. He was a switchboard installer with Western Electric in South Bend and then was transferred to Indiana Bell in Michigan City, and retired in 1974. Floyd loved to hunt, fish, garden and feeding wild birds. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten. Floyd is survived by his wife Joyce; two daughters, Susan (Julio) Santana of Walbridge, OH and Cynthia (Dr. Fred) Hill of Wesley Chapel, FL; six grandchildren, Gwendolyn Dreske, Edward Dreske, Maria Santana, Angela Santana, Theodore Hueter and Amelia Dimone, ENS; two great grandchildren, Havana and Sydney Hirschfield; and a sister, Clara Grewe of New Buffalo. He is preceded in death by his parents-Peter and Clara, brothers-Clarence, Lawrence, Harold, Paul and Bernard, and a sister-Margaret Monsey.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 10, 11:00am, at St. Mary of the Lake Church, New Buffalo, with Msr. Eugene Sears officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, New Buffalo. There will be no visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
