Lillian Ruth Kerns

Lillian Kerns, 81, of New Buffalo, MI died at her home on Monday, March 12, 2012. Arrangements have been entrusted with Sommerfeld Chapel of New Buffalo.Lillian was born on April 29, 1930 in New Buffalo, the daughter of William and Ruth (Kern) Wiedenhoft. On June 10, 1950 in New Buffalo she married Robert Kerns. Lil loved bowling with her mother, mushroom hunting, camping and winters in Florida. She also loved spending time with family and her church friends at Waters Edge and was known to many as Gramma Lil. Survivors include her husband Robert of 62 years; her daughter, Becky (Jeff) Hinshaw of Michigan City; her son, Robert (Cindy) Kerns, Jr. of Stevensville; six grandchildren, Ryan Williams, Shawna Pritchard, Josh (Joy) Kerns, Kristen Kerns, Christopher Hinshaw and Nicole Hinshaw; six great grandchildren, Ethen, Jack and John Williams, Jayda and Jordan Kerns and Chase Hinshaw; her brother James (Barbara) Wiedenhoft of Michigan City; also many nieces and nephews. Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother John Shreve of New Buffalo.A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, March 16, 11:00AM, at the Waters Edge United Methodist Church in New Buffalo, with Rev. Brad Bartelmay officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, New Buffalo. Visitation is on Thursday, from 5:00-8:00PM at Sommerfeld Chapel in New Buffalo.
