Raymond Miles Krapec, 88, of New Buffalo, MI died at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012. Arrangements have been entrusted with Sommerfeld Chapel of New Buffalo.Raymond was born on May 21, 1923 in Chicago, IL to Frank and Marie (Stiber) Krapec. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force during WWII in the air offensive of Europe.Raymond is survived by his wife Gayle; his son, Brian (Kathryn) Krapec of Lisle, IL; and two grandchildren, Jennifer Tielbur and Jaime Krapec. He is preceded in death by his parents-Frank and Mary, his first wife-Zdenka Pekarek, two sisters-Elsie and Lil, and a brother-George. A time of visitation will take place on Saturday, Feb. 25, from 3:00-7:00pm at the Sommerfeld Chapel, 15 N. Barton St., New Buffalo, MI.Father Craig Lusk will officiate a Celebration of Life Service at 7:00pm, following the visitation at the funeral home. Raymond will then be transferred to the Toon Funeral Home in Downers Grove, IL for further services. His final resting place will be at the Bohemian National Cemetery in Chicago.
