Willetta M. Baines, 96, of New Buffalo, passed away, Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at Rittenhouse Senior Living in Michigan City, Indiana.Private family services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday at Sommerfeld Chapel, 15 N. Barton St., New Buffalo, with Rev. Brad Bartelmay of Waters Edge United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in New Buffalo. In January 1935 she married Herschell Waters in Bedford, Indiana. He preceded her in death in September 1954. In October 1962, she married Alan Baines in Mattoon, IL. He preceded her in August 1994. Willetta was a member of the New Buffalo Yacht Club and enjoyed everything about Lake Michigan. She enjoyed playing bridge with her friends, oil painting & reading.Willetta is survived by her children-Susan Peterson of New Buffalo, Phillip “Toni” (Juanita) Waters of The Villages, FL, Don (Beverly) Baines of Mentor, OH; five grandchildren-Janice Waters, Gary (Amy) Waters, Sarah Peterson, Amber Peterson, Steve Baines; three great-grandchildren; and a brother Neal (Jennie) Terrell of New Orleans, LA. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by a grandson Bradley Waters in 2010.
