Jan Marie Sexton, 51, of New Buffalo, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012 at LaPorte Hospital, LaPorte, IN. Arrangements have been entrusted with Sommerfeld Chapel of New Buffalo, MI.Jan was born Nov. 6, 1960 in Michigan City, IN, daughter of Alfred and Bertha (Steinborn) Balzer. On June 21, 1997 she married Tom Sexton, who survives. She is also survived by her son Kevin Jackson of New Buffalo; grandson Parker Jackson of New Buffalo; step-children, Toni (Les) Browley of Grand Rapids, MI, Ginny (Kevin) Beasley of Grand Ledge, MI, Tom Sexton II of New Buffalo, MI, and Carrie Sexton of Noblesville, IN; five step-grandchildren; brother Donald Balzer of New Buffalo; sisters, Betty (Julian) Becker of Three Oaks and Connie (Paul) Koth of Sawyer; and her good friend Frank Everspaugh. Jan is preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and brother Roy “Butch” Schwark.Jan graduated from New Buffalo High School in 1979. She was employed at the family business, A & R Truss, for many years. She was a member of the Three Oaks American Legion Auxiliary Post #204. Jan loved family, friends, her dogs, gardening, dancing and helping anyone in need. Jan and Tom fished many lakes in Michigan, Canada and the Gulf of Mexico. They were in many contests over the smallest, biggest, first fish and most fish caught……….Jan always won.A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, Oct. 1, 2:00 PM, at Sommerfeld Chapel, 15 N. Barton St., New Buffalo, MI, with Rev. Brad Bartelmay officiating. Visitation is on Sunday at the funeral home from 3:00-6:00 PM.
