Casimer's Obituary
Casimer T. Krycka, 88, of New Buffalo, died at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Michigan City, IN on Thursday, October 11, 2012. Arrangements have been entrusted with Sommerfeld Chapel of New Buffalo, MI.Cas was born February 28, 1924 in New Buffalo Township to Joseph and Veronica (Kalita) Krycka. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. On June 29, 1946 in New Buffalo, he married Sophia ‘Dutch’ Rudecki. Cas retired from the C & O Railroad in 1984, where he had worked as a lead machinist and a train master. He then became sexton at Pine Grove Cemetery in New Buffalo. Cas was a former New Buffalo Township Trustee; a member of the American Legion Post #169 of New Buffalo; a member of the VFW; a member of the Moose Lodge #980 of Michigan City; a member of the St. Joseph Club; a member of the New Buffalo Yacht Club; and a member of St. Mary of the Lake Church of New Buffalo. He enjoyed bingo, golf, bowling, and playing slot machines at the casino. Cas is survived by his children, Linda (Chuck Stallard) Sayles of Earlysville, VA, Judith Kessler of Richmond, Va, Roxann (Michael) Justus of Chesterton, IN, Rosann (Clifford) Dudiak of New Buffalo, MI, and Kevin (Steven Tanner) Krycka of Seattle, WA; grandchildren, John and Joseph Payne, Stacie Robinson, Brianna Murphy and Mitchell Dudiak; great grandchildren, Christopher and Cassandra Ducca; and his long-time friend and co-worker Vic Nerada. He is preceded in death by his parents-Joseph and Veronica, his wife-‘Dutch’, and twelve brothers and sisters.A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Monday, October 15, 2012, 12 noon, at St. Mary of the Lake Church, with Father Craig Lusk officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, New Buffalo, with the New Buffalo American Legion conducting military honors. Visitation is on Sunday, Oct. 14, from 2:00-6:00 PM at Sommerfeld Chapel, 15 N. Barton St., New Buffalo, MI.
