Michael Williams

Michael Joe Williams, 70, of Michigan City, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2013 at the Arbors of Michigan City. Arrangements have been entrusted with Sommerfeld Chapel of New Buffalo, MI.Michael was born March 19, 1942 in Grand Rapids, MI to Hubert and Clara (Lacy) Williams. He was a graduate of New Buffalo High School in 1960. Mike served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was the manager at Fox’s Jewelry Store at the Marquette Mall in Michigan City for 35 years. Mike was an avid Chicago Cub and Bears fan. He loved to fish and enjoyed golf, cooking and reading. He also volunteered at the Great Lakes Museum of Military History. Mike was a mason, a shriner and a member of the Moose Lodge #980 of Michigan City.Michael is survived by the Engel family-Harry & Jo Ann and Mike, Pat and Mel, Bob and Mary Ellen, and Joanne; Jim and Kathleen Pohlman; step-grandchildren-Benjamin and Danielle Ball; and loyal and life-time friends-Doug and Jeanne Robinson and Tooter and Sandra Webb.A Celebration of Life Service will be held on June 1, 12:30pm, at Sommerfeld Chapel in New Buffalo. Final resting place is at Pine Grove Cemetery, New Buffalo. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society.
