Helen D. Brandon, 90, of Union Pier, MI, passed away at the Willow’s Assisted Living in St. Joseph, MI on Weds., March 6, 2013. Arrangements have been entrusted with Sommerfeld Chapel of New Buffalo.Helen was born on July 1, 1922 in Chicago, IL to Michael and Bernice (Gawron) Debiak. On February 14, 1942 in Three Oaks, MI she married John Brandon. She was a seamstress working from her home. Helen was a member of St. Mary of the Lake Church and also the Altar & Rosary Society. She was a member of the Sunshine Club of Union Pier, and was also a den mother for Den #6 New Buffalo Cub Scouts.Helen is survived by her children Delores (David) Baumgartner of Pullman, WA, Gloria Sheahan of Lansing, MI, Janet (Joe Collins) Brandon of Bloomfield Hills, MI, Andrew Brandon of St. Joseph, MI and Paul Brandon of Union Pier, MI; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; sister Margaret Chudziak of Mt. Prospect, IL; brother John (Dolores) Debiak; and many nieces and nephews . She is preceded in death by her parents-Michael and Bernice, her husband-John, a son-John Brandon, Jr., sisters-Francis and Eleanor, and brothers-Louis and Joe.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Sat., March 9, 11:00am, at St. Mary of the Lake Church, New Buffalo, with Father Craig Lusk officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, New Buffalo. Visitation is on Friday, from 2:00-8:30pm at Sommerfeld Chapel of New Buffalo. Memorial contributions may be made to the Willow’s Activity Fund, 3440 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI 49085.
