Richard's Obituary
Richard Alvin Borglin, 88, of New Buffalo, MI passed away Friday, May 17, 2013 at Life Care Center in Michigan City, IN. He was born in Chicago, IL on September 17, 1924 to Alvin & Anna Borglin. On November 19, 1949 he married Eileen Kintzele in New Buffalo, MI. He served in WWII in Italy, South Africa and France. Richard received three battle stars for action in the European Theatre with the third division. Also received the Combat Infantry Badge and was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in Italy. He always said he walked the boot of Italy. He was a maintenance man for New Buffalo Elementary School for almost 30 years and a member of the American Legion Post 169.He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Eileen Borglin of New Buffalo, sons Melvin (Becky) Borglin, Kevin (Connie) Borglin of New Buffalo, and Allen (Sandy) Borglin of GA. 8 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and 3 step great grandchildren, a sister Elayne Carlson of CA and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his one day old son Kirk Borglin, sister Joan Luck and brother John Borglin.Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 22, 2013 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Sommerfeld Chapel, 15 N. Barton St., New Buffalo. A private graveside service will be held for the family at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Richard Borglin to the Bison Beginner Program Fund in care of Eileen Borglin.
