William's Obituary

William Ford Keefe, 92, of New Buffalo passed away at Glenbrook Hospital in Glenview, IL on Fri., July 12, 2013. Arrangements have been entrusted with Sommerfeld Chapel of New Buffalo, MI.  William was born June 2, 1921 in Chicago, IL to Walter and Marie (Ford) Keefe. He was a graduate of St. Ignatius High School and Loyola University in Chicago. William served in the U.S Army and was a veteran of WWII. He was a journalist, a free lance writer, and an author of several books.  William is survived by four children – William Keefe, Jr. of Nashville, TN, Patrick (Jean) Keefe of Mundelein, IL, Micael (Robert) Clarke of Chicago, IL, and Moira (Elmon) Ferguson of Lebanon, TN; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; thirty-six nieces and nephews; brother Richard (Mary) Keefe of Wilmette, IL; and sisters Marjane Kottcamp of Elmhurst, IL and Marie (Bernard) Wheel of Oak Park, IL. He is preceded in death by his parents-Walter and Marie Keefe, his first wife-Mary (Lane) Keefe, his second wife-Carol (Jackson) Keefe, a daughter-Monica Peach, three brothers-Andrew, Walter and Jerome, and a sister-Elizabeth.  A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, July 16, 11:00 AM, at St. Mary of the Lake Church-New Buffalo, MI, with Father Craig Lusk officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, New Buffalo. Visitation is on Monday, from 6:00-9:00 PM at Sommerfeld Chapel, 15 N. Barton St., New Buffalo, MI.
