Richard Orange

Richard G. Orange, 66, of Union Pier, MI died at home surrounded by his beloved family on Sat., August 24, 2013. Arrangements have been entrusted with Sommerfeld Chapel in New Buffalo, MI. Richard was born June 18, 1947 in Michigan City, IN to Floyd “Bud” and Mildred (Goede) Orange. Richard was a 1965 graduate of New Buffalo High School and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Northern Michigan University. On March 25, 1972 he married Sandra Joyce Heppler. He was a route salesman for Wonder Bread for over 30 years, retiring in 2000. Richard was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in New Buffalo; he coached many years for Little League Baseball; was an avid Chicago Cub fan; loved to bowl and socialize with his many friends; but most of all was a great husband and loving father. Richard is survived by his wife of over 40 years Sandra; and two sons-Brian Orange of Whitmore Lake, MI and Gary (Elizabeth) Orange of Lake Zurich, IL. He is preceded in death by his parents-Bud and Mildred, and a sister-Shirley Glancy. A service celebrating Richard’s life will be held on Thurs., August 29, 11:00am, at St. John United Church of Christ in New Buffalo, with Pastor Damien Lake officiating.
