Violet M. Ziarko

Violet Mae Ziarko, 85, of New Buffalo, passed away on Monday, July 28, 2014 at St. Anthony Hospice in Michigan City, IN. Arrangements have been entrusted with Sommerfeld Chapel in New Buffalo.   Violet was born on Nov. 20, 1928 in Chicago, IL to Edward and Mae Gabriel. She worked at Barney’s in New Buffalo for numerous years. Violet loved her customers and co-employee’s and treated them as her second family.   Violet is survived by three daughters-Maryann(Thomas)Kelly of New Lenox, IL, Sylvia(Thomas)Martin of Galena, IL, and Carol Carroll of Norridge, IL; seven sons-Walter (Denise) Ziarko of Elkhart, IN, Ronald (Barbara) Ziarko of New Buffalo, MI, John (Mary) Ziarko of Tinley Park, IL, James (Yolanda) Ziarko of Chicago, IL, Casimir ”Mike” (Hope) Ziarko of Countryside, IL, Albert (Janet) Ziarko of Plainfield, IL and Richard (Cathy) Ziarko of Prospect Heights, IL; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters-Ruth Lauterbach, Dorothy Palchowski, Marie (Michael) Mannina, Lorraine (Walter) Kedizor and Sylvia Gabriel; brothers-Edward (Edna) Gabriel, James (Corrine) Gabriel and George (Mary) Gabriel; and a daughter-in-law Ruta Ziarko. She is preceded in death by her parents-Edward and Mae, her husband-Walter, a son-Joseph, sister-LaVergne, and brothers-Charles and Edward.   A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Aug. 1, 11:00 AM, at St. Mary of the Lake Church in New Buffalo with Father Dan Hyman officiating. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Justice, IL. Visitation is on Thursday, July 31, from 4:00-8:00 PM, at the Sommerfeld Chapel in New Buffalo. A Rosary will be recited at the funeral home Thursday evening at 7:30 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony Hospice of Michigan City, IN.
