Marvin Jack Williams, Sr., 94, of New Buffalo, MI passed away at the Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville, MI, on Sat., October 4, 2014. Arrangements have been entrusted with Sommerfeld Chapel of New Buffalo.
Marvin was born on Sept. 7, 1920 in Athens, OH to Ellis and Dora (France) Williams. He served his country during WWII while in the U.S. Army. Marvin worked at Dwyer Kitchens in Michigan City as a crate maker and retired in 1982. He was also a multi-faceted farmer. Marvin loved to hunt, fish, winter in Florida, but most of all was very family orientated.
He is survived by his wife-Alice; children-Jack (Elaine) of New Carlisle, IN, Eileen (Al) Hart of Watervliet, MI, Ellis (Sue) of Berrien Springs, MI, Phyllis (Bill) Purvis of Coloma, MI, June (Lou) Pezzuto of Michigan City, IN, Nancy (Randy) McLaughlin of Wyoming, IA, Marvin, Jr. of New Buffalo, MI, Darlene (Terry) Maxey of Cornelius, NC and Mark (Pam) of Allendale, MI; 29 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; a brother-Rufus of Portsmouth, OH; and a sister-Elsie (Ralph) Crow of Dayton, OH. Marvin is preceded in death by his parents-Ellis and Dora, his first wife-June, and a son-Daniel.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, Oct. 10, 11:00 AM, at Sommerfeld Chapel in New Buffalo, with Clergy Jerry Partenberry officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery with military honors by the New Buffalo American Legion Post #169. Visitation with the family is on Thursday from 6:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home.
