Mary M. Haynes, 83, formerly of New Buffalo, passed away in Georgetown, IL on Weds., January 28, 2015. Arrangements have been entrusted with Sommerfeld Chapel in New Buffalo, MI.
Mary was born on March 21, 1931 in Booneville, MS, to Robert and Lina (Tigrett) Nichols. She was married on June 19, 1948 to Edward Ray Haynes; he preceded her in death on July 29, 1997. Mary was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in New Buffalo. She loved quilting, cooking and was very active in volunteer work. Mary had worked at Wheel Inn in New Buffalo for app. 15 years until 2000.
Mary is survived by her children-Linda (Al) Edington of Westland, MI, Vickie (Steve) Hayward of Georgetown, IL, Bruce (Cindy) Haynes of Findlay, OH and Dan (Debbie) Haynes of Charleston, SC; fourteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; three brothers-Don (Idell) Nichols of Coloma, MI, Edward (Dorothy) Nichols of Little Rock, AR and Fred (Ruth) Nichols of Lenior City, TN; and a sister-Gladys Graham of Omaha, NE. She is preceded in death by her parents-Robert and Lina, her husband-Edward, a daughter-Mary, a granddaughter-Christine, brothers-Ben, Luther, Oliver and Howard, and a sister-Pauline.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, Feb. 2, 11:00am, at the Bible Baptist Church in New Buffalo, MI, with Pastor James Bouslog officiating. Burial will follow at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens in Michigan City, IN. Visitation is on Sunday, Feb. 1 from 2:00-6:00pm, at Sommerfeld Chapel, 15 N. Barton St., New Buffalo, MI.
