Elsie May Welch

Elsie May Welch, 90, of New Buffalo, passed away in Michigan City at the Sterling House on Friday, April 17, 2015. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sommerfeld Chapel of New Buffalo, MI.   Elsie was born on January 24, 1925 in Bloomfield Township, MI to the late Eldred and Alberta (Schingek) Beard. On October 6, 1945 in Keego Harbor, MI she married Walter Thomas Welch; he preceded Elsie in death on December 2, 1986. Elsie enjoyed to shop, read a good book-especially mysteries, and play bingo. But most of all she loved her family, especially spending time with her grand and great grandchildren.   Elsie is survived by her three daughters- Sue (Rob) McCarty of New Buffalo, Janice (Scott) Nieman of Michigan City, IN, and Diann (Michael) Hagerty of Valparaiso, IN; 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren;  two sisters-Shirley Welch of Gaylord, MI and Donna Witt of Petosky, MI; and several nieces and nephews.infoin   The family of Elsie will have private services at a later date.
