Thomas R. Sexton, 70, of New Buffalo, passed away at home on Thursday, May 28, 2015. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sommerfeld Chapel of New Buffalo, MI.
Tom was born on March 5, 1945 in Coeburn, Virginia to the late Milford and Edna (Hill) Sexton. He was a 1963 graduate of New Buffalo High School. He was a skilled and well respected craftsman working as a general contractor. Tom was an avid outdoorsman; he especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. But Tom’s greatest love was for his grandchildren.
Tom is survived by his children – Thomas (Renae Smith) Sexton, II of New Buffalo, Kevin Jackson of New Buffalo, Toni (Les) Browley of Kentwood, MI, Virginia (Kevin) Beasley of Grand Ledge, MI and Carrie (Derek) Nihart of Fishers, IN; his beloved grandchildren – Janelle, Alex, Thomas III, Jordan, Brandan, Parker, Landyn and Hayden; brother – Gilbert (Cindy) Sexton of Michigan City, IN; and sisters – Monnie (Bruce) Glick of Indianapolis, IN and Sue (Keith) Swain of Michigan City, IN. He is preceded in death by his wife Jan Marie (Balzar) Sexton on Sept. 26, 2012; a brother – Edward and a sister – Bonnie Kelley.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2:00 PM, at Sommerfeld Chapel. Visitation is on Wednesday, June 3 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Sommerfeld Chapel, 15 N. Barton St., New Buffalo, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to the Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial Fund or to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
