Rose Marie Warren, 81, of New Buffalo, passed away, Thursday, July 30, 2015 at her home.
Celebration of Life Services will be held 1:00 P.M. Eastern Time, Sunday August 2, at Sommerfeld Chapel, 15 North Barton St., New Buffalo, with Rev. John Peterson officiating. Friends may visit with the family beginning at Noon on Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. John’s United Church of Christ in New Buffalo. Rose was born June 30, 1934 in Marseilles, Illinois to Wiley & Etta (Underwood) Gordon. She moved to New Buffalo to complete her last year of high school, graduating in 1952. On October 30, 1954, she married Thomas Warren in Three Oaks, Michigan. Rose was employed for twenty seven years with New Buffalo School, first in the lunch room, then for twenty five years as a teacher aide, retiring in 1995. She was a member of St. John’s UCC where she was active in every fashion-as a greeter, serving communion & dinners, and teaching Sunday School & Bible School. In her free time, Rose enjoyed traveling with Tom across the US & Canada, tending to her flower gardens, and watching the hummingbirds in her flowers.
Rose is survived by her husband Tom, Sr.; her children-Dani (Mark) Moser of Snellville, GA, Amy (Jim) Coble of Michigan City, IN, Tom Warren, Jr. of St. John’s MI; nine grandchildren-Lance, Tyler, Rachel, Jacob (Jenny), Jeremy (Lindy) Allison (Ellis) Dorothy, Dave, & Alexander; five great-grandchildren-Ella, Emma, Maddie, Riley & Luke; two sisters-Norma (Dale) Hampton of Florida, Betty (Eric) Frodin of Ottawa, IL; her brother Jerry (Kathy) Gordon of Marseilles, IL; numerous nieces & nephews; and her canine companion Buffy. She was preceded in death by her father & step-mother Wiley & Zilla Gordon, her mother & step-father Etta & George Beers, three sisters-Grace Micor, Elsie Alm & Ellen Manski, and her brother Stanley Gordon.
