Dan W Grafford

Daniel W. Grafford, 91, of New Buffalo, MI, passed onto his heavenly home on Thursday, August 6, 2015 with his family at his side. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sommerfeld Chapel in New Buffalo.   Dan was born on August 16, 1923 in Niles, MI, where he also met and married the woman of his dreams Bonnie Jean Messner. They remained together for 60 years filled with love, laughter and a family that loved them forever.   Dan is survived by his two daughters Linda (Richard) Nekvasil and Pam (Robert) Fender and two daughter-in-laws Marcia Pero and Rochelle Grafford; the loves of his life his 10 beautiful grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Bonnie, his son Daniel, granddaughter Becky Nekvasil and infant grandson Daniel Rowles.   Dan proudly served his country during WWII while in the U.S. Army. He served in four different campaigns and earned the Silver Star. In honor of Dan and in lieu of flowers please make a contribution to the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans. A special thank you to 3 Red Nursing staff, nursing aids and administration for the immeasurable love and care they gave Dan and his family during his brief but unforgettable stay at this most wonderful facility. You are his ‘angels’.   A graveside service celebrating Dan’s life will take place on Sat., August 7, 12 PM (CST) with military honors at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens in Michigan City, IN.
