Rose Marie Affeld

Rose Marie Affeld, 81, of New Buffalo, Michigan, died Wednesday evening, June 17, 2015 at home surrounded by her three daughters.   Rose was born on May 12, 1934 in Batavia, Illinois. She was the sixth & last child born to Edward and Jenny (Hoff) Glasshagel. In October of 1951 Rose married Harley James Allen Affeld. To this union three daughters were born; Patricia Lynn, Kim Marie, and Susan Elaine. Rose was a strong woman that worked hard and loved her daughters, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends. Rose enjoyed gardening, reading books and chocolate. She filled her home with laughter and love.   Rose is survived by her daughters- Patt (Terry) Covert of Cope, Colorado; Kim (Kim) Luginbuhl of Bridgman, Michigan; and Suzi (Tom) Kanger of Bridgman, Michigan. Grandchildren- Rose Covert of Portland, Oregon; Maggie (Brodie) Sears of Joes, Colorado; Stref (Erica Dodd) Konkey of Ferndale, Michigan; Seth (Kelly) Konkey of LaGrange, Illinois; Shawn (Tania) Konkey of Chicago, Illinois; Tom Kanger of Indianapolis, Indiana; Kasey (Mike) Philpott of Indianapolis, Indiana, Sarah Kanger of Bridgman, Michigan. Great grandchildren- Zak, Eden, Feona, and Sienna Sears; Lily, Sophie, and Logan Konkey; Evan and Ella Konkey; Lola, Leo, Geo, and Nico Konkey. Sister- May Mierendorf of Mokena, Illinois. Brother- George (Wilma) Glasshagel of Oxford, Ohio. Sister-in-law- Mabel Glasshagel of Wanatah, Indiana.   She was preceded in death by her parents: Edward and Jenny Glasshagel, Sisters: Mary Guay and Shirley Spiess. Brother: Robert Glasshagel.   A memorial celebration of her life will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at St. John’s United Church of Christ, New Buffalo, Michigan. Memorials may be made to St. John’s United Church of Christ, Hospice at Home St. Joseph, or the River Valley Senior Center.
