Elizabeth's Obituary

Elizabeth Ann ‘Betsy’ Cole, 74, of New Buffalo, MI, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2015 after a courageous struggle  with  a prolonged illness.  She was surrounded by her family at St. Anthony Hospice in Michigan City, IN. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sommerfeld Chapel, 15 N. Barton St., New Buffalo, MI.   Betsy was born on October 26, 1940 in Hammond, IN to Clarence and Eva (McNary) Cole. Fresh out of school she started working for Indiana Bell Telephone Co., later Ameritech, retiring in 1992 as an executive assistant. She was guided in life by her strong faith and was very active in the Episcopal Church of the Mediator in Harbert, MI, where she  was a member of the Daughters of the King. Betsy was also an avid and passionate Indy Car racing fan as well as an extremely proud mother and grandmother.   Betsy is survived by her  children-Sheri Green of Indianapolis, IN and Bradley (Rebecca) Craig of Lindenhurst, IL; her grandchildren-Christopher (Hannah) Green, Jordan Green, Taylor Craig and Bailey Craig; brother-David (Marilyn) Cole of Munster, IN; and sister-Gail (Don) Snell of Crown Point, IN.   A celebration of Betsy’s life in the form of a Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Friday, August 21, 3:00 P.M (EST), at the Episcopal Church of the Mediator, 14280 Red Arrow Hwy, Harbert (Lakeside), MI, with The Rev. Paula Durren officiating. Visitation will precede the service at the church from 1:00-3:00 P.M. (EST). In Lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to either the Church of the Mediator or to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
