Joanne Marie Garrison

Joanne Marie Garrison, 83, of New Buffalo, MI, passed away at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph, on Sat., October 17, 2015. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sommerfeld Chapel in New Buffalo, MI.   Joanne was born in Michigan City, IN on February 11, 1932 to the late Raymond and Margaret (Lyons) Sheeler. On July 1, 1950 in Michigan City, IN she married Floyd Garrison; he preceded her in death on December 12, 2006. Joanne’s work history included the A & P grocery store in Michigan City, FW Dwyer and Hays Corp. in Michigan City, IN. She was a member of Water’s Edge United Methodist Church in New Buffalo.   Joanne is survived by her two sons – Danny (Mary) Garrison of New Buffalo, MI and Gregory Garrison of LaPorte, IN; seven grandchildren – James, Sarah, Richard, Glenn, Michael, Danielle and David; great grandchildren – Keenon, Madeline, Talia, Margaret, Benjamin and Henry; and a sister – Sharon (Donald) LaBorn of Three Oaks, MI; numerous nephews and nieces; and very close friends Clem Kniola and Maryann and Marvin Losiniecki. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and five brothers – Ray, Jr., Eugene, Gerald, Ronald and Danny.   A Celebration of Joanne’s Life will take place at Sommerfeld Chapel, 15 N. Barton St., New Buffalo, MI, on Wednesday, October 21, 2:00 P.M., with Rev. Brad Bartelmay officiating. Visitation will precede the service from 12 noon-2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
