Joseph E. Melichar, 50, of Three Oaks, MI, formerly of New Buffalo, MI, passed away in his home on Monday, November 9, 2015. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sommerfeld Chapel, 15 N. Barton St., New Buffalo, MI.
Joseph was born on March 19, 1965 in Cook County, IL to Ernest and Phyllis (Dorociak) Melichar. He is a graduate of Fenwick High School, Oak Park, IL and of the University of Iowa. He worked at the Chicago Board of Trade; he attended the Players Work Shop at Second City in Chicago; he worked in the film industry in CA and IL as a film and lighting technician; he was a graduate of the Hollywood Film Institute in the Producers Program; he was a member of MENSA; and currently owned and operated his business OtherJoe, LLC – he was a digital impressionist of nature and landscape scenery.
Joseph is survived by his father and step-mother – Ernest Melichar and Rose Marie Knight; his two sisters – Frances of Union Mills, IN and Ann of Chicago, IL; and two nephews – James of Union Mills, IN and David (Samantha) of Princeton, IN. He is preceded in death by his mother – Phyllis Melichar, and a niece – Katie.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sat., Nov. 14, 3:00 P.M.(EST), at the Sommerfeld Chapel in New Buffalo, MI. Visitation is on Friday from 5:00-8:00 P.M.(EST), and also on Sat. one hour preceding the service from 2:00-3:00 P.M.(EST), at the funeral home.
