Forest B. McCance, 79, of New Buffalo, MI passed away in his home on Tuesday, November 22, 2016. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sommerfeld Chapel, 15 N. Barton St., New Buffalo, MI.
Forest was born on October 17, 1937 in Stubenville, OH to the late Gottfried Dale and Evelyn Alice (Ellis) McCance. He served his country from 1954-1958 while in the U.S. Air Force. On October 17, 1956 he married Rebekah Patterson. After 38 years of service, Forest retired as supervisor in the water department for the Village of Michiana. He loved working on old cars, especially his 1930 Ford Model A. Forest loved football, and was a fanatic Ohio State fan. But there was nothing more he loved than family, especially his grandchildren.
Forest is survived by his wife Rebekah; his son – Brendan of Niles, MI; four grandchildren – Tiffany, Sabrina, Kyle and Ryan (Corina); four great grandchildren; daughter-in-law – Judy McCance; sisters – Susan (Bruce) Stevens and Marsha McCance; and a brother – Daniel (Sue) McCance. He is preceded in death by a son – Blaine McCance (1997) and several brothers and sisters.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, November 26, 12 noon, at Sommerfeld Chapel in New Buffalo. Burial follows the service at Pine Grove Cemetery with military rites by the New Buffalo American Legion Post #169. Visitation precedes the service from 10:00am – 12noon at the funeral home.
