Sylvia Smith

Sylvia Smith, 76, formerly of New Buffalo, MI now of Scottsdale, AZ, passed away in Scottsdale on October 23, 2016. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sommerfeld Chapel, 15 N. Barton St., New Buffalo, MI.   Sylvia was born on May 9, 1940 in Wheeling, West Virginia to the late Leopold and Stella (Raszkiewicz) Wojtowicz. She was married to Charles Terrance Smith on January 28, 1961 in Wheeling WV; he preceded her in death on January 12, 1993. Sylvia is survived by her two children – Rick (Thanh Nhan) Smith of Dublin, OH and Mandy (Bryan) Binder of Scottsdale, AZ; five grandchildren –Charles Smith & Natasha Smith and Tristan (Joshua) Hammett, Aubrey (Michael) Piciucco & Marlee Binder; two great grandchildren – Hudson Hammett and Juliet Piciucco; brother – Victor Wojtowicz of Wheeling, WV; and a sister – Pam Cherkin of Pittsburgh, PA. She is also preceded in death by a brother – Gerald Wojtowicz.   A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in New Buffalo, MI on Friday, November 4, 11:00 A.M., with Father Patrick Craig officiating. Private burial will take place at Pine Grove Cemetery in New Buffalo. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
