Floyd William Buckner, 55, of New Buffalo, died on Thursday, December 22, 2016. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sommerfeld Chapel, 15 N. Barton St., New Buffalo, MI.
Floyd was born in LaPorte, IN on January 25, 1961 to the late Charles and Ruby (Pickens) Buckner. He was a graduate of Michigan City Rogers High School in 1980. On June 18, 1988 in Michigan City, IN he married Donna Elizabeth Kish. Floyd enjoyed the beach, boating, biking, motorcycles, and the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs. Most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially watching his sons grow up and playing sports. Floyd was always willing and able to help a friend in need and was extremely talented and a jack-of-all-trades. He will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends.
Floyd is survived by his wife Donna; his two sons – Michael of Kalamazoo, MI and Aaron of East Lansing, MI; brothers – Daniel Buckner of LaPorte, IN, Charles (Mary) Buckner of Redondo Beach, CA and Leonard “Dale” (Chris Lewanski) Buckner of LaPorte, IN; sisters – Linda (Michael) Schoff of Kingsbury, IN and Patricia (Bruce) Buckner of Houston, TX.
A Celebration of Life service will take place on Wednesday, December 28, 4:00pm(est), at Water’s Edge United Methodist Church, 18732 Harbor Country Drive, New Buffalo, MI with Rev. Brad Bartelmay officiating. Visitation precedes the service on Wednesday from 2:00pm-4:00pm(est) at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice.
