Joseph J. Rudecki, 95, of New Buffalo, MI passed away on Monday, July 17, 2017 at Life Care Center in Michigan City, IN. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sommerfeld Chapel, 15 N. Barton St., New Buffalo, MI.
Joseph was born on February 15, 1922 in Niles, IL to the late Michael and Anna (Krawezuk) Rudecki. Joseph served his country during WWII while in the U.S. Army. On September 22, 1945 in New Buffalo he married Loraine Williams. He was an electrician and owner of Rudecki Electric since 1967. Joseph was a member of St. Mary of the Lake Church, where he served as an usher for over 65 years. He was also a former New Buffalo American Legion member as well as a member of the VFW. Joseph was also a New Buffalo City Volunteer Fireman for 25 years (1950-1975), serving as the Chief for 11 years. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge in Michigan City and an avid bowler.
Joseph is survived by his wife of over 65 years – Loraine; his two children – Gerald Rudecki of Elkhart, IN and Gail (Kurt) Mahl of LaPorte, IN; grandchildren – Kelly, Richard and Brandon Mahl; great grandchildren – Landon, Marlee and Maddie; and a brother – Bernard (Marie) Rudecki of Walkerton, IN. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers – John, Frank and Walt, and sisters – Mary, Anna and Sophie.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 21, 11:00am, at St. Mary of the Lake Church, New Buffalo, MI, with Father John Peter Ambrose officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, New Buffalo, MI. Visitation with the family is on Thursday from 5:00-8:00pm at Sommerfeld Chapel, New Buffalo, MI.
