Mathew Jacob Ramsey, 26, formerly of New Buffalo, recently of Palm City, FL, went to Heaven on Sept. 10, 2017. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sommerfeld Chapel, 15 N. Barton St., New Buffalo, MI.
Mathew was born in Kalamazoo, MI on June 1, 1991 to Jeffery and Lisa (Jackson) Ramsey. He was a graduate of New Buffalo High School in 2010. Mathew worked as a laborer installing pools for Custom Pools Plastering in Stuart, FL. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Mathew loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, kayaking and camping. He chose to move to Florida with his close friend Justin Krueger. There he met Angela Andrews; he was very proud and excited to soon becoming a father. However, Mathew’s heart has always remained in New Buffalo, MI with his family and hometown friends. He had a huge heart and a great personality. Mathew’s sense of humor was one of his best characteristics, as he always could make you smile. He will be missed by all.
Mathew is survived by his father – Jeffery (Bonnie) Ramsey of New Buffalo; his siblings – Kim (Chris) Stark of New Buffalo, Christina Martinez of Elkhart, IN, Amanda Ramsy of New Buffalo, Jessica Ramsey of New Buffalo, Nathan Ramsey of South Bend, April (Kyle) Ramsey of Michigan City, and Joshua Ramsey of New Buffalo; step-siblings – Jaclyn (Mook) Snoreck, Bryan Nolan and Joseph Nolan; grandfather – Robert Ramsey; grandmother – Nellie Jackson; extended family – Mother Renee Hotwagner, Jeremy Krueger; brothers – Justin and Jonathan Krueger; sisters – Jenna Krueger and Ariah Slayden; and many aunts, uncles, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his mother – Lisa Jackson, grandmother – Barbara Ramsey and grandfather – Joe Jackson.
A Celebration of Life service will be on Weds. Sept. 20, 11:00 A.M. at the Sommerfeld Chapel in New Buffalo with Pastor Victor Prietto officiating. Visitation with the family is on Tues.
