Raymond Thomas

Raymond Thomas, 70, of New Buffalo, MI passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2018, surrounded by loved ones in his home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sommerfeld Chapel – 15 N. Barton, St., New Buffalo, MI.  Raymond was born on Jan. 25, 1948 in Georgetown, Guyana to the late Percy and Lillian (Simon) Thomas. On Jan. 3, 2003 he married Lisa Utpatel. Raymond retired as a supervisor from Plastic Masters in New Buffalo; then worked at the Blue Chip Casino as a deck hand and retired in 2013. He was an avid University of Michigan Wolverine fan and the Blue Chip Casino. But his biggest passion was his family as he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.  Raymond is survived by his wife Lisa; his children – sons, Earl Thomas, Anthony Thomas, Ryan Thomas, Christopher Combs, and Chase Combs; daughters, Samantha Thomas, Veronica Thomas-Burmeister and Chelsea Thomas; many grandchildren in Guyana and two here – Kahli and Paislee; brothers – Patrick, Tyron, Raj, Nolan, Christopher, Derrick and Alvin; and sisters – Carole, Indria and Michelle. He is preceded by brother-Neville and sister-Joyce.  A visitation with the family is on Sunday, Dec. 23, from 1:00-3:00pm, at Sommerfeld Chapel in New Buffalo. Prayers will be said at 3:00pm at the funeral home. Raymond will be cremated and laid to rest at Pine Grove Cemetery at a later date.
