Florence Scameheorn

Florence “Janette” Scameheorn, 96, of Buchanan died Saturday, June 27, 2009 at 1:02 a.m. of natural causes at the Jordan’s Nursing Home, Bridgman. She was born to the late Clifford H. and Florence M. (Wenger) Upham on March 25, 1913 in Mishawaka, IN. On August 9, 1931 she married Clifford W. Scameheorn who preceded her in death on April 24, 1981. Surviving are children, Mickey (Robert) Simpson of Niles, Sally Hinkle of Dublin, CA, Gene (Alice) Scameheorn of Statesville, NC, Wayne (Gen) Scameheorn of Three Oaks, Eddie (Karen) Scameheorn of East Haddam, CT, Lee (Denise) Scameheorn of Berrien Center, MI and Rick (Jane) Scameheorn of Buchanan; brothers, Theodore (Mickey) Upham of Jackson, MI and Donald (Joan) Upham of Los Alamos, NM; sisters-in-law, Helen Upham of Jackson, MI and Betty Upham of South Bend; twenty five grandchildren, forty six great grandchildren, and forty seven great great grandchildren and four great great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by brothers, Robert, James and Richard Upham. Janette graduated from Buchanan High School in 1931. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church and retired from Teachers Credit Union. She enjoyed anything to do with the outdoors such as traveling, camping and long walks. Most of all, she enjoyed her family. She had a loving and quiet nature but was also very adventurous. The funeral service will be Wednesday, July1, 2009 at 10:30 am at the Swem Funeral Home. Rev. Rob McPherson of the First United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 30, 2009 from 4-7 also at the funeral home.
