Diana Kay Smith

Diana Kay (Gridley) Smith, 69, of Gilbert, AZ, formerly of Buchanan, MI died Tuesday, June 22, 2010 in Mercy Gilbert Hospital of natural causes. She was born June 13, 1941 to Leo and Elizabeth (Albrecht) Gridley. On June 10, 1961 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Buchanan, she married James Smith, who preceded her in death on July 27, 2000.Surviving is her mother, Elizabeth Gridley of Buchanan; sons, Jeff (Deb) Smith of Niles, MI, Dave (Jeannie) Smith of IL, and Steve (Carrina) Smith of Gilbert, AZ; sister, Carolyn (David) Burgoyne of Buchanan; brother, Richard (Margaret) Gridley of Buchanan; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.Diana grew up in Three Oaks, MI and lived most of her adult life in Buchanan. She worked for both the Niles and Buchanan Community Schools as their Food Service Director. After retirement she moved to Gilbert to be close to family. She was very active at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She enjoyed to cook, travel and play Bingo.The funeral service will be Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at 11:00 am at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Buchanan. Rev. Daniel Streufert will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Buchanan. Visitation will be Monday, June 28, 2010 from 4-7 at the Swem Chapel, Buchanan.
