Richard's Obituary

Richard “Dick” Lee Burgoyne, Sr., 67, passed away Saturday, December 19th, 2009 after a long illness at Lakeland Community Hospital, Niles. He was born January 10, 1942 in Niles, MI. Dick was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn (Macintosh) Burgoyne Moore. He is survived by his father, Lawrence; three brothers; Kipp, Charles (Joan) and Robert (Shelia); four children, Rik (Sonia) Michele (Ralph) Phillips, Brian, and Douglas (Danielle); and his two grandsons, Austin and Riley; half-sisters, Deedrah (Norman) Searfoss and Dawnah Ellis; half-brothers, Mark, Randy, Jeff and Chris Moore and his caregiver, Dolly Heaton, who provided him with wonderful care in his final years. Also preceding him in death was his half-brother, Timothy Burgoyne. Richard was an avid outdoorsman, hunter and fisher, and he transferred his love of nature into his skilled artwork through multiple media. He was a founding member of the Four Flags Muzzleloaders and a member of the Michigan Bow Hunters. He worked in the Axle Division at Clark Equipment Company in Buchanan for many years. Dick will be remembered for his wit and humor, his many stories, his lifelike art creations and his love of his family and friends. The Funeral Service will be Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at 10am at the Swem Funeral Chapel, Buchanan. Pastor Paul Deeds of Bethel Apostolic Tabernacle will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Time to gather with the family will be Tuesday, December 22, 2009 from 5-8 pm also at the Funeral Home.
