Imogene's Obituary

Mrs. Imogene Smith, 86, of Berrien Springs died Sunday, October 4, 2009 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph of natural causes. On February 12, 1923 she was born to the late Ancil and Gladys (Westmoreland) Burroughs in Wayne County, IL. On April 6, 1946 she married Joseph W. Smith who preceded her in death in 1991. Surviving is a son, Clifford Smith of Berrien Springs; grandsons, Eric Smith of Berrien Springs and Jeff (Brenda) Smith of Niles; sisters, Irene (Jack) Reese of Cheyenne, WY and Geraldine Hurley; and great grandson, Daniel Harris of Niles. Imogene enjoyed knitting, cooking and baking. She was famous for her donuts and pies which were the hit of the neighborhood. Looking out the back window of the house and watching the deer was something she enjoyed very much. The Funeral Service will be Wednesday, October 7 at 12pm with time to visit with the family two hours prior, from 10am – 12pm at the Swem Funeral Home, Buchanan. Pastor David Mitchell of Faith Victory Fellowship will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Buchanan.
