Leona Shogren

Leona Shogren, 93, formerly of Buchanan, now of South Bend, died on Friday March 4, 2011. Arrangements have been entrusted with Swem Chapel of Buchanan, MI.Leona was born September 1, 1917 in Buchanan to Elza and Anna (Rucack) Wilkens. She graduated from Buchanan High School. Leona married Ivan Shogren on November 28, 1934 in South Bend, IN. She retired in 1968 from Electro-Voice in Buchanan. Leona loved life and especially her family.She is survived by her children Carl (Brenda) Shogren of Navarre, FL, Maryann Thompson of Northridge, CA, and Patricia McKeel of South Bend, IN; grandchildren Lance McKeel, Angela McKeel, Scott (Robin) Thompson, Mike (Lorie) Thompson and Carl Shogren; and two great grandchildren. Leona is preceded in death by her parents-Elza and Anna, her husband-Ivan, and a sister-Mary.A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2:00pm at the Swem Chapel in Buchanan. Visitation will precede the service from 1:00-2:00pm, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Buchanan, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society.
