Thelma Bell (Heckathorn) Rose, 91, died Tuesday, January 26, in her home, of natural causes. She was born November 4, 1918 to the late Frank and Edna (Redding) Heckathorn in Dayton, MI. On November 6, 1937, in Buchanan, MI, she married Harold G. Rose who preceded her in death on June 30, 1989. Surviving are sons, Max (Marcia) Rose of Greenville, SC and Rex (Jean) Rose of Buchanan; grandchildren, Glenn (Donna) Rose of Georgetown, KY, Raquel (Mark) Holdgrafer of Granger, IN, Mark (Kim) Rose of Simpsonville, SC, Eric (Maureen) Rose of Greer, SC and Michelle (Jim) Nichols of Simpsonville, SC; great grandchildren, Chelsea Adolph, Courtney Adolph, Haley Rose, Courtney Rose, Jonathon Nichols, William Nichols, Jacob Nichols, Kayla Rose, Andrew Rose, Conner Rose, Brittani Morris, Stephanie McFarland and Josh McFarland; great great grandchild Ryan Morris; brother Albert (Millicent) Heckathorn. She was preceded in death by Russel (Phyllis) Heckathorn. Thelma graduated from Buchanan High School in 1937. Friends and family enjoyed her wonderful cooking and all of the afghans she crocheted over the years. The funeral service will be Monday, February 1, 2010 at 12 pm at the Swem Funeral Home. Pastor Chris Kruchkow will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be two hours prior, from 10am – 12pm also at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith United Methodist Church, Buchanan or to Hospice at Home, Inc.
