Margaret's Obituary
BUCHANAN – Margaret Ferris, 88, left this world, due to natural causes, while in her home, to join her husband Carl, Saturday, January 23, 2010. She had mourned his loss for two years after nearly 66 years of marriage. She was born on June 7, 1921 in Park Falls, Wisconsin to William and Mena Frisbie. Along with her husband Carl, she was preceded in death by sisters, Marie and Clara; and a brother, Marcus. A brother Walter (Dee) of South Bend, survives. Also surviving is a daughter, Sue (Bill) Glossinger of Buchanan; grandson, Jacob Glossinger of Buchanan; granddaughters, Rebekah (Kevin) Bushouse of Kalamazoo, Mary (Bill) Tumbleson of Dowagiac and Libby Glossinger of Galien.Having defeated polio at an early age, Margaret went on to live a full life. She worked for Clark Equipment Company before her marriage and in the early years of it. She then worked for Woodworth Insurance allowing her more flexible hours when her daughter was young. Returning again to Clark's and retiring from there in 1983, she enjoyed almost 25 years of travel, fishing and grandchildren with her husband. She was a member and former officer of the Eastern Star. She had also been active with the Michigan Well Driller's Association and the Stark PTO. She was an avid reader and crossword enthusiast. Her love of flowers was expressed with her flower gardens in both Buchanan and the second home in Beulah, Michigan. She had always been active and supportive of her daughter and more recently with her grandchildren. Teaching them to sew, encouraging and cheering them on in sports, school and fair activities. She was always there for them.The funeral service will be Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at 11:00 am at the Swem Funeral Chapel in Buchanan. Pastor Sean Kidd of the Buchanan Christian Church will officiate. Burial will follow at the Oak Ridge Cemetery in Buchanan. Visitation will be Monday, January 25, 2010 from 4-7:30 pm, with an Eastern Star Service by Chapter #332 at 7:30, also at the funeral home.
