Sylvia Irene Price

Sylvia Irene Price, 92, died Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at Valley View Healthcare Center in Elkhart, IN. She was born July 17, 1917 to Guy and Mertyle (Hogan) Edwards in Dover, Arkansas. On August 17, 1939 in Dover, she married Reece Price, who preceded her in death in 1973.Surviving is her son, Reece (Jill) Price Jr. of Cassopolis; grandchildren, David (Jodi) Price of Granger, IN, Bill (Jana) Price of Niles, MI, Tom (Laura) Price of Alaska, MI and Tracy (Mike) McCullough of Derwood, MD; ten great grandchildren, two sisters and three brothers. Sylvia taught school at Moccasin Elementary in Buchanan for many years. As a teacher Mrs. Price inspired a love of knowledge, curiosity and truth. She celebrated her students strengths and accomplishments while guiding and encouraging their steps along the way. In her classroom, every child felt safe, loved and important.The Celebration of Life Service will be Saturday, June 12, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Swem Chapel, Buchanan. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Buchanan. Rev. Rob McPherson of the First United Methodist Church will officiate. Visitation will be Friday, June 11, 2010 from 5:00-7:00pm also at Swem Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Moccasin PTM, 410 Moccasin Street, Buchanan, MI 49107.
