James “Jim” Paul Mottl, 80, of Buchanan, Michigan died Tuesday November 8th at 9:15 a.m. at West Woods of Niles. James was born September 9, 1931 in Buchanan to the late Joseph and Anna (Viachek) Mottl, On July 14, 1951 in Niles he married Beverly Harris who survives. Also surviving are; two daughters, Theresa (William) Carson and Brenda (Kirk) Tucker of Buchanan; a son, Alan (Teri) Mottl, of Buchanan; a sister, Evelyn Lambert of La Porte, Indiana; two brothers, William Mottl of Buchanan and Joseph Mottl of Eau Claire; five grand children, Cristina Godsey, A.J. Mottl, Bill Carson Jr. Kirk Carson and Nicole Teshaka Tucker; nine great grandchildren, Devon Adams, Jalen Brown, Emma Carson, William Carson III, Logan Carson, Faith Carson, Alyssa Carson, Gabriella Carson and Treyton Teshka Tucker. A grandson, Ryan Tucker, preceded him in death as did three sisters and two brothers. Jim retired after working 30 years at Clark Equipment Co. in Buchanan, where he was a supervisor in the Data Center. His hobbies included fishing, hunting & golf. Jim served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of American Legion Post 51 in Buchanan. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, November 12th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Father Carl Peltz Celebrate. Visitation will be held Friday at Swem Chapel from 4-8 p.m., where the Rosary will be recited at 7: 00 p.m. Burial will take place at Oak Ridge Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 51 of Buchanan. Memorial contribution in Jim’s name may be made to the Ryan Tucker Scholarship Fund, University of Notre Dame, Attention Carol Hennion, 1100 Grace Hall, Notre Dame, Indiana 46556.
