Kathleen Julie Farhat

Kathleen Julie (Leonard) Farhat, 71, of Buchanan, Mi, passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2011 in St. Joseph, Mi. She was born October 6, 1940 to her parents, Michael and Mary Francis (Donnelly) Leonard, who preceded her in death. Before her marriage, she was a teacher of history and English, and throughout her life, loved teaching others. Katie was known for her collections of art and antiques, but she was always more interested in the history behind the collection. Nothing brought her more joy than to share what she had learned about places far and wide, and the people she met on her many travels. She was a devout Catholic and very proud of her Irish heritage and family. She delighted in her participation and the many friends she made through The 30 Club of Buchanan, MI and took great pleasure in being involved with the charitable organization Meals-on-Wheels. Katie was a devoted wife and mother and thrived on her large family. She is survived by her loving and dedicated husband, William R. Farhat; her four children, William G. Farhat and his wife Beth Skinner Farhat, John P. Farhat, Michele R. Farhat, and Alicia K. Farhat (Mrs. Brian J. McClung) and her four grandchildren. She is also survived by her 6 siblings. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, November 2, at St. Anthony Parish of Buchanan, MI. A visitation will be held at Swem Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 1, from 4:00 – 8:00.
