Helen Selma Jackson, 87, of Buchanan, Michigan died Tuesday at Lakeland Medical Center in St. Joseph, Michigan. Helen was born October 20, 1923 in Lewistown, Penn to the late Daniel J. and Ruth B. Snook. On June 28, 1941 in Buchanan she married Harold P. Jackson, who preceded her in death in 1996. Helen is survived by a son James (Vicki) Jackson of Niles; two daughters Carla Johnson of Buchanan and Marie Remington of Niles; 5 grandchildren and 4 great Grandchildren also survive. A grandson Michael J. Jackson preceded her in death .Other survivors are a brother Fern Snook of Buchanan. Two brothers Kenneth and Carl Snook preceded her in death. Helen worked many years as a self-employed seamstress in Buchanan. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Wednesday afternoon book club and an active member in the league of women voters. Helen was the recipient of the environmental achievement award in 1991.Graveside services will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Forrest Lawn Cemetery Three Oaks, Michigan. Visitation will not be offered.
