Ruth M. Shepardson

Ruth M. Shepardson age 94 of Niles, formerly of Galien, died February 29th at Brentwood of Niles where she had resided since 2005. Ruth was born May 26, 1917 in Galien to the late Carl and Mildred Smith Renbarger. She was married to Ward Shemely of Galien from 1937 until his death in 1942. On April 10, 1948 she married Leroy Shepardson who preceded her in death on October 2, 2004. A daughter Sandra Sue Shepardson also preceded her in death in 1952.Ruth opened and operated Ruth’s Beauty Shop for many years in Galien until her retirement in 1975. She and Leroy then divided their time between Galien and their winter home in Winter Springs, Florida until returning full-time to Galien in 1999.She is survived by a son Charles L. (Yolanda) Shemely of Oak Brook, Illinois, a granddaughter Elizabeth Shemely Shott of Valencia, California, and a sister Jean Hinman of Galien, Michigan. She was also preceded in death by a sister Jane Renbarger Sprague and three brothers, Carlton Renbarger, Clayton Renbarger, and Richard Renbarger, all of Galien. A service celebrating her life will be held 12:00 p.m., Saturday, March 24, 2012, at Swem Chapel, 301 Front St., Buchanan. Visitaton will be held 1 hour prior to the service.
