Frances R. Young

Frances R. Young, age 91, of Buchanan died Sunday, June 16th, as the result of an auto accident in Bertrand Twp., Michigan. Frances was born September 27, 1921, in Eau Claire, Michigan to the late Lloyd and Rose (Hachberger) Sommer. On September 17, 1944, in Eau Claire she married Norris E. Young, who survives along with a daughter, Kathleen (Ray) Paturalski, a son, Nick (Sharon) Young, all residing in Buchanan. Six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren also survive. A brother, John Sommer, preceded her in death.Frances began her career as a teacher at several area rural schools and later at Buchanan Community Schools. She retired from Buchanan Community Schools in 1981, after teaching for 31 years. She served on numerous educational committees as well as the Senior Center Board. She also enjoyed gardening and animals.The family will gather privately to celebrate her life at a later date.
