Jean M. Thurston

Jean M. Thurston, age 65, passed away on Tuesday August 21 at West Woods of Niles, Michigan. Jean was born September 12, 1946 in Newberry, Michigan to Day & Jean Baber of Buchanan who survive; along with a son, Darrin (Kimberly) Thurston of South Bend, Indiana; and two grandchildren, Bryce & Brooklyn. Other Survivors include a twin sister, Jeanette Wagner of Buchanan; three brothers, Dan (Connie) Baber of Buchanan, Bill (Sue) Baber of Berrien Springs, Nelson (Lori) Baber of Buchanan; and several nephews and nieces. Jean was a beloved, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and dear friend to many. She graduated from Berrien Springs in 1964 and retired from the Michigan Department of Social Services after 27 years of service. Jean loved many things in her life and her great smile proved it; first and foremost was her son and grandchildren. She loved music and dancing and spent her after school afternoons watching American Bandstand, learning the newest dance moves, dancing with her sister and brothers. She was loved and will be missed by all.A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, August 25 at 10:00 a.m. at Swem Chapel in Buchanan, where friend may call on Friday the 24th from 4-8 p.m. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
