Dorothy Aline Carter

Dorothy Aline Carter, age 89, of Decatur, Michigan, formerly of Niles, died January 4 at Memorial Hospital South Bend. She was born October 7, 1923 in Buchanan to the late Wm. Isaac & Bertha (Walls) Wolford. On April 11, 1944 in Picket, Ark she married Odra Otis Carter who preceded her in death on April 12, 2005. Dorothy is survived by four daughters; Audrey A. Anglin of Niles, Delores and the late John Bair of South Bend, Dianne (Robert) Spansail of Decatur, & Bernice (Kenneth) Haroldson of Cassopolis. A daughter, Brenda (Troy) Lewis preceded her in death. Four sons, Calvin Carter of Buchanan, Howard (Janice) Carter of Niles, Dennis (Linda) Carter of Niles, & Patrick (Mary) Carter of Cassopolis. Two sisters, Claudine Foulk of Grayling, & Louise DeWalt of Palm Bay, Fla., a sister, Alice Ward, preceded her in death. Also, one brother, William Wolford of Buchanan, three brothers preceded her in death, Charles Wolford, Lawrence Wolford, and Victor Wolford. Other survivors include 29 Grandchildren, 67 Great- Grandchildren and 9 Great-great Grandchildren. Visitation will be Monday, January 7, from 5-8 p.m. and Tuesday, January 8, one hour prior to the service, at Bethel Tabernacle, 71378 Ironwood, Niles, MI., 49120. Her Funeral Service will be Tuesday January 8, at 11:00 a.m. also at the church with Pastor Matthew Bair officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Buchanan.The family is being served by Swem Chapel of Buchanan. Memorial Contributions may be made to Bethel Tabernacle, Niles, MI.
