Roy's Obituary

Roy E. Knapp, Jr., age 87, of Buchanan died Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at Lakeland Medical Center in Niles. He was born August 30, 1925, in South Bend, Indiana to the late Roy E. & Mary Knapp. On March 15, 1947, in Niles, he married Elaine J. Kallies who preceded him in death on February 9, 1987. Roy is survived by a son, Stephen M. Knapp, of Detroit, Michigan and a daughter, Karen E. Knapp, of Kalamazoo, Michigan. Roy retired from AEP in 1988 where he held the position of supervisor of customer accounts. He was a life of member of Masonic Lodge #68 F. & A.M., American Legion Post # 51 and Moose Lodge #449, all of Buchanan. He served his country during WWII in the Army Air Corp and was stationed in Germany during its occupation. Visitation will be held on Thursday the 13th from 4-8 p.m. at Swem Chapel in Buchanan, where a Masonic Rites Service will begin at 7:30 p.m. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday the 14th at 10:00 a.m. at Swem Chapel with Pastor Edward Slate of Faith United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens in Niles, where Military Honors will be provided by Post 51 American Legion. Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to Masonic Lodge # 68 F. & A.M., 122 N. Oak St., Buchanan, MI 49107.
