Jerry D. Morris

Jerry D. Morris, age 81, of Buchanan died January 5, 2013, at Silverbrook Manor in Niles, after a long illness. He was born February 9, 1931 in Niles to the late Max R. & Esther (Painter) Morris. On June 11, 1955, in Baroda he married Loretta Carpenter who preceded him in death in 2002. He is survived by a daughter, Monica Morris of South Bend; sons, Monte (Robin) Morris of Stevensville, Kirk Morris of Buchanan, Doyle (Brenda) Morris of Rockford, IL; 8 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and brother, Jimmie (Dorothy) Morris of Buchanan. Three brothers, Richard, Max and Jack Morris preceded him in death. Jerry retired from AEP in 1994 after being employed as an electrical inspector for fifteen years. He was an avid Notre Dame Football fan and the family has requested those attending the service wear Notre Dame Attire. Visitation will be on Wednesday the 9th at Swem Chapel in Buchanan starting at 11:00 a.m. until the hour of the service which will be at 1:00 p.m., also at Swem Chapel. Reverend Brenda Morris, Jerry’s daughter-in-law, will be officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Buchanan. Memorial contributions are of the donor’s choice.
