Irma Jean Koenigshof

Irma Jean Schellhorn was born in Chicago, Illinois July 4, 1916. Her parents were Emil Edmund Schellhorn and Lena Carolena Schellhorn (nee Faber). She went home to be with her Lord and Savior on July 5, 2013. On May 15, 1937 she married Robert F. Koenigshof in Chicago, IL. They made their home in Buchanan, MI. They had two daughters, Marlene Conley Schultz (Ron) of Edwardsburg, MI., and Ruth Ann Peirce (Doug) of Cheyenne, WY. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother to five grandchildren: Robert Conley (Jennifer) of Indianapolis, IN., Moriah Cameron (Mark) of Palmer Lake, CO., Susan Shrider of Edwardsburg, MI., David Peirce (Linda) of Erie, CO. and Debra Jordan (Dan) of Clear Lake, Iowa. She was great-grandmother to sixteen great-grandchildren: Abigail and Nathan Conley, Robert Tyler, Zachary, Anna, Christina, and Katie Cameron; Kyle and Kara Shrider; Davis, Cana, Sam and Eli Peirce; Peirce, Mitchell and Kirsten Jordan. She has one brother, Edmund Schellhorn of Rochester, IN. She has many nieces and nephews, and all were very special to her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Koenigshof in 2003, and a sister Bernice in 1915. Irma was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of South Bend, IN. Previously she was a member of St. Peter’s Evangelical and Reformed Church in Galien, MI., where she served the Lord faithfully in the Ladies’ Aid Guild, as a choir member, as a Sunday School teacher, and as a hard worker in the church kitchen preparing and serving meals. She and her husband spent many years showing their love for God by caring for and visiting the sick and willingly helping those in need. Irma’s hobbies were traveling, needlepoint, making Christmas decorations for each family member, cross-stitching and quilting bedspreads for each child, grandchild and great-grandchild and quilting with the other members of St. Peter’s Church Guild. The family will receive friends and relatives from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, July 8, 2013 at the Swem Funeral Home, 301 W. Front Street, Buchanan, MI. The funeral will be Tuesday July 9, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., at Swem Funeral Home in Buchanan. There will be a viewing beginning one hour before the funeral. Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery, Buchanan, MI. Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 3001 W. Cleveland, South Bend, IN 46628; the Berrien County Youth Fair Endowment, P.O. We will all miss her lovely smile and her great disposition. We were blessed to have known her and to be loved by her.
